NWMLS market data for December 2019 in Washington State.
Wow! It was a surprisingly busy month for real estate transactions here in Washington State, especially for what is normally the slow holiday season!
As you go over these numbers, I’m sure you will be as surprised as I am. They really are amazing for this time of year. While there were 4% more new listings in the month of December compared to Dec ’18, They sold FASTER and for an 8.7% increase in sales price! This is of course state wide ( I will be adding Whatcom County numbers in an upcoming blog so stay tuned! ), so there are some differences here compared to Bellingham/Lynden/Ferndale/Blaine etc., but they won’t be dramatic.
One of the more interesting facts to me is the “months of inventory” we have. What that means is that, based on current rate of sales divided by total available listings, we have only 1.19 months of inventory left! A normal “balanced” market is approx. 4-6 months of inventory. So you know what that means, if you are thinking of selling your home, NOW IS THE TIME!
With continued low interest rates, and less competition for your current home compared to the spring and summer months, now is the most opportune time to sell.
