Although you might like the color on the walls of your home, potential buyers might not. The problem is not everyone has the same color palette as you and a dislike in color choice, could lead to dislike in the overall house. Paint doesn’t cost that much, and it can make your house look fresh and clean. If you decide to repaint before you sell your house, choose colors that are very neutral. It may be more boring for you to live in a neutral colored house, but it will make the sale much easier. White is the best choice for staying neutral and reflecting light, making your home look bigger.
Lots of windows help make the space feel lighter and brighter, and if you can mix in some color that doesn’t hinder this effect, that is great as well. The best colors for this are.
LIGHT GRAY
When you think of neutrals, most people immediately think of beige or white. But most of the time these aren’t actually the best options to showcase your home’s features. Beige is a very warm color, but these days people tend to prefer cooler colors. A great alternative to beige is gray. It has cooler tones, which create a soothing and calming atmosphere. A light gray can really highlight a room, making it look open and bright.
TAUPE
Taupe is another great choice for interiors. It’s neutral, but adds a hint of color. It comes in a variety of shades, each with different undertones. You can go a little more gray, brown, or even a hint of lavender for a look that is classic, yet incredibly sophisticated.
If you are not sure what would qualify for a quick coat of paint, just ask yourself if there are:
1: Extreme or Bold colors that only go with the current furniture in the home, that buyers may not be able to envision their belongings in.
2: More than one bold color in the same area is a big NO NO for home sellers in today’s market.
Finally, just to wrap this topic up, if you are looking at new houses for sale but need to sell your own home prior to moving, painting the interior walls of your house can go a long way, at a fairly small cost, to helping you sell your house so that you can buy a new one. And if you previously painted any of the rooms of your home in especially bold or bright colors, this is a good time to repaint them in a more sedate tone which is unlikely to elicit a negative reaction from home buyers who might not like the same colors you do.
